Walk from Burgos to Hontanas

April 1, 2001 – We have entered the MESETA… It’s hot, dry, and fairly sparse in population.

Morning starting with a fog layer.

Church tower with storks.

I had a brief lunch with Maurice, who also gave me a sewing needle to pierce a blister.

Maurice from Toulousse, France.

The roads of the meseta seem to go on and on… dry… and HOT!!!

A long dry road of the meseta.

At the end of the day, we literally dropped into Hontanas – a town that could not be seen until the very last 500 meters, to be greeted by Suzanna & Bina, among others, to a cold beer: well deserved after walking over 30 km.
