Walk from Atapuerca to Burgos

March 31, 2001 – A short walk of 19.4 km. – a little over 12 miles… to Burgos, which is a relatively larger town.  The weather on this day started cool and became quite warm.

The day started climbing over a small mountain to encounter these sheep.

At the top of the mountain, before the decline, was this cruce. (cross).  The path down was quite rocky and a bit uncomfortable for the feet.

Ultimately, we made it to Villafria (an alternate route) where I found these storks on the top of the church.

Storks - very common in Spain & Portugal

Once in Burgos, I met several friends for lunch – Ines & Angela from Canada, and Ricardo from Portugal.
