Walk from Najera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada

Monday, March 28th… a relatively short day – only 21 km – so easy to take our sweet time…  One thing about hiking in the spring is that the weather is cooler…  I’ve been really fortunate to experience a Camino with temperatures in the 6-16 centigrade range ( low 40’s to low 50’s).  We have had rain… though mostly short lived showers…

Sometimes, I’m seeing these sculptures in the middle of the fields… probably to bring luck to the farmers…A church on the Way

One of the many Cruce or Rollo in the fields.

The absolutely amazing – and disturbing – part of the walk today was the entry into Cirinuela – past the golf club (or rather ghost club) to see hundreds of condos and townhomes – none of which were occupied and almost all with Ve Vende signs indicating they were for sale.  No wonder Spain (along with Portugal, Ireland, Italy, and Greece) are in such financial trouble…
